Improvisational exercises help develop the skills and confidence to solve problems, collaborate with others, and think on your feet. Through improvisational games and exercises, dialogue, reading, viewing and playing, you learn to harness the power of ‘Yes, And!’ and apply the learning to challenges in the classroom, at work, and beyond.
SEEDS Of Promise is a place-based urban community improvement initiative located in the Southeast community of Grand Rapids. Their mission is to provide a tiered program of employment, education, and housing to homeless individuals in Grand Rapids. In the winter of 2016, SEEDS Of Promise and the Collaborative Projects course began a strong relationship, mainly involved with researching and developing concepts for the housing aspect of their program.
This unique course offered 5 KCAD students an opportunity to work on an immense ArtPrize project, as well as travel to Miami to take part in an installation at the Miami Beach Biennial: Untitled.
What is a parklet? Essentially, it is an extension of the sidewalk that gives urban dwellers more space to enjoy the city in which they live. Parklets are now popping up in many major cities – GR being one of them – and KCAD students were provided the opportunity to design one.
